What to expect

I will ask you some questions and will listen carefully to understand your specific needs including the different physical, psychological and social factors that could be contributing to your condition and how it affects you and your life, carrying out a thorough assessment. This can be done in clinic, via videocall, or even in your home, depending on your preference or problem.

I’ll also look at the way you move, and might ask you to remove some clothing, if you feel comfortable doing this, to help me understand more about the problem.  We’ll discuss what you’d like to achieve from physiotherapy in the context of your life and we’ll work together to plan how this can be achieved, scheduling in more appointments according to your needs and at a pace that’s right for you.

Treatment might include:

  • Strength training
  • Stretches
  • Soft tissue massage
  • Gentle mobilisations to joints
  • Trigger point release
  • Pilates and core stability exercises
  • Western Acupuncture and dry needling
  • Pain Education
  • Psychologically Informed approaches
    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
    • Motivational Interviewing
    • Coaching
    • Mindfulness and relaxation practises
  • Discussion around lifestyle factors such as sleep, nutrition and stress.

After each appointment I’ll email you a summary including items such as key points discussed, what to work on and an exercise plan that we’ve practised together including videos.
